Chaudhary Duni Chand and Dharmu are neighbours who share an ancestral animosity, marked by a wall between their properties. Duni Chand’s son Prem studies in the city, and very few people in the village are acquainted with him. On his way back to the village, Prem meets with a tonga accident. Dharmu’s daughter Preeto saves him at her own risk. She later regrets her actions when she is told by Duni Chand’s servant Latu that she saved their enemy’s son.

Soon, however, Prem and Preeto fall in love. Meanwhile, the Chaudhary of the village, Pyare Lal, falls prey to Preeto’s charms as well. He pursues her, but she rebuffs his advances. Enraged by her rejection, he threatens to seize her father’s house, pawned to him when her father took a loan from Dharmu. When Pyare Lal’s men start taking away their bull, Preeto agrees to marry him. When they are in the process of sanctifying the marriage, Prem arrives and rescues Preeto. Pyare Lal escapes the venue without collecting on the loan. Humiliated, he vows to take his revenge.

As Preeto and Prem start meeting more frequently, Pyare Lal sets fire to Dharmu’s field, making sure he cannot pay his debts. He exposes their meetings to the villagers as well. Seething with rage, Duni Chand commands Preeto to leave the village. Unable to bear this, Dharmu rushes to kill Preeto, but he suffers a paralyzing fall.

Prem tries to convince his ailing father to agree to their union. When he fails, he leaves to join Preeto. Pyare Lal, still upto his nefarious schemes, abducts Preeto and attempts to molest her. Prem arrives to fight Pyare Lal and his henchmen. When Pyare Lal aims to shoot at Prem, he is killed by Chaudhury Duni Chand instead. The lovers are united and Duni Chand surrenders before the court for the murder of Pyare Lal.
